ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrival in Urumqi
Upon arrival at Urumqi from your point of departure, you will be greeted by our 24-hour airport pickup service and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to explore at your leisure. You may wish to visit the Grand Bazaar or Hongshan Park. You will stay overnight at your Urumqi hotel.
Day 2: Urumqi to Altay via S21 Desert Highway
After breakfast, your road trip begins. We depart Urumqi via the new S21 Desert Highway, a stunning feat of engineering that cuts directly across the Gurbantünggüt Desert. Along the way, we will stop to explore the quartz-sand dunes of Kelameili Sand Dune Park. In the afternoon, we arrive in Altay City for an overnight stay at your Altay hotel.
Day 3: Altay to Hemu Village via Ahe Highway
Today we travel via the scenic Ahe Highway, renowned as North Xinjiang's "Most Scenic Drive". This road (subject to opening after July 1st) takes us through diverse landscapes as we climb into the Altai Mountains. We arrive at Hemu Village, "God's Own Land" , and check into a traditional wooden cabin. You will stay overnight at your Hemu wooden cabin.
Day 4: Hemu Sunrise & Transfer to Kanas
We'll wake early this morning for a short hike to the Haden Platform to witness a breathtaking sunrise, as mist and morning light fill the Hemu valley. After sunrise, you'll have free time to explore the rustic village. In the afternoon, we transfer to Kanas Lake , the "Pearl of the Altai Mountains" , and check into our wooden cabin within the scenic area. You will stay overnight at your Kanas wooden cabin.
Day 5: Kanas Lake to Urho
Enjoy free time this morning to explore Kanas's famous Three Bays: Dragon Bay, Moon Bay, and Fairy Bay. In the afternoon, we depart for the Colorful Beach , a stunning, multi-colored Yadan landform on the banks of the Irtysh River. We'll continue to the desert outpost of Urho for the night. You will stay overnight at your Urho hotel.
Day 6: Urho Devil City to Bole/Shuanghe
This morning, we visit the spectacular World Devil City, a vast landscape of wind-eroded Yardang formations. You will explore this eerie, impressive park by sightseeing car. Afterwards, we embark on a long but scenic drive south to Bole or Shuanghe City. You will stay overnight at your Bole/Shuanghe hotel.
Day 7: Sayram Lake Self-Drive & Tianshan Flower Sea
A major highlight awaits today as we drive to Sayram Lake, the "last tear of the Atlantic." Here, you will enjoy the freedom of a self-driving tour around the lake's perimeter, stopping for photos at your own pace. We will also pass the magnificent Guozigou Grand Bridge. In the afternoon, we continue to the Tianshan Flower Sea and check into a unique RV Camp. You will stay overnight at your Tianshan Flower Sea RV Camp.
Day 8: Tianshan Flower Sea to Nalati Grassland
After breakfast, we depart for the Nalati Air Grassland, one of China's most beautiful alpine meadows. You'll enjoy VIP access to the scenic area, avoiding long queues. The rest of the day is a curated experience: enjoy a relaxing grassland afternoon tea with panoramic views , a professional photoshoot (with a chance to hold a baby lamb!) , and an all-you-can-eat hotpot & BBQ feast. The day ends with a bonfire party and stargazing music night. You will stay overnight at your Nalati boutique homestay.
Day 9: Nalati to Urumqi via Duku Highway
Today, we embark on one of the world's most famous drives: the Duku Highway (the "Hero's Road"). This legendary road crosses the Tianshan Mountains, connecting North and South Xinjiang. You will experience a stunning range of landscapes in a single day, from lush grasslands to red-rock canyons and snow-capped peaks. We arrive back in Urumqi in the evening. You will stay overnight at your Urumqi hotel.
Day 10: Departure from Urumqi
Enjoy a final breakfast at your hotel. At the designated time, your complimentary 24-hour transfer service will take you to the airport or train station for your departure.
